Spring Boot development for production systems

We build, review and upgrade Spring Boot applications that have to stay correct and fast under real load.

What we build with Spring Boot

  • APIs: REST and WebSocket interfaces with validation, OpenAPI documentation and consistent error handling.
  • Security: Spring Security, JWT, role and tenant based access, two-factor flows.
  • Persistence: JPA / Hibernate on PostgreSQL and MySQL with schema migrations, plus ClickHouse for analytical and tick data.
  • Operations: Actuator, Micrometer metrics and Prometheus, structured logging, Docker-based deployment.
  • Modular builds: multi-module Gradle projects with clear boundaries between services and shared libraries.

Engineering habits

Spring makes it easy to start and easy to accumulate hidden problems. We keep the domain model separate from framework code, make behaviour testable without a running container, and treat configuration, transactions and threading as design decisions rather than defaults.

Our own platform is a multi-module Spring Boot system with account, user, trade, configuration and notification services, so these are patterns we live with.

Reviews and upgrades

  • Architecture and code review with a ranked list of risks.
  • Spring Boot 2 to 3 and Java 8 / 11 / 17 to 21 migrations.
  • Performance diagnosis: queries, pools, threads, GC.
  • Test strategy and CI hardening.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you work with both Spring Boot 2 and 3?

Yes. We maintain Spring Boot 2.x systems and migrate them to 3.x and current Java, including the javax to jakarta change.

Can you review our Spring application?

Yes. A review covers structure, transaction and persistence usage, security configuration, configuration management, test coverage, observability and runtime behaviour, with prioritised findings.

Do you build microservices?

We build services at the size that fits the problem. We are as comfortable splitting a monolith as keeping a well-structured modular one; see modernization.

What about performance problems in JPA / Hibernate?

Common and fixable: N+1 queries, over-eager fetching, transaction scope, connection pool sizing, batch writes. We profile first and change what the data points to.

Can you build real-time features in Spring?

Yes, with Spring WebSocket and, where plain Spring is not enough, Netty or Vert.x. See messaging and event-driven systems.
